Put aside your beliefs on President Bush, climate change and the G8 for a minute and look at the reports of Bush’s new-found “climate change drum-beat” at the G8 conference this week. Bush: “We are deadly earnest about getting something done. The U.S. will be actively involved if not taking the lead in a post-Kyoto framework.” Politics at its finest. Read more for yourself!

Step 1: Mr. Bush, Have some self-respect, stop the act and say what you mean and what your actions have shown: “I don’t feel that reducing emissions can ever be good for the economy – so I will never promote that path for the USA.”

Step 2: Learn how cutting emissions can be good for the economy. Try http://www.us-cap.org for starters – and read the list of member companies – BP, Shell, DuPont, PG&E and PepsiCo, to name a few. It’s here, it’s real and there’s big money already on board.

Step 3: Grass Valley/Nevada City can discover ways to make emission-cutting good for our local economy, too. Time to brainstorm.
