Burn permits suspended Monday

Burn permits for Nevada County residents outside of cities will be suspended as of 8 a.m. Monday according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

The department urges all effected residents to do their brush clearing and permitted burning this weekend before Monday morning’s deadline, or face fines thereafter.

The suspension was put into effect due to dry conditions in the state and anticipation of a long and difficult fire fighting season. The suspension will be in effect until enough rains decrease the dryness this fall.

For more information on fire safety, see the department’s Web site at http://www.fire.ca.gov.
