Bulldogs’ ‘incredible’ win

After a mediocre 2008 baseball season, the lowly seated Fresno State Bulldogs suddenly caught fire in the Collegiate World Series tournament and won the championship by defeating Georgia in the final series on June 25. It may be the most improbable team ever to win a NCCA championship, in any sport.

In an era of national pessimism seemingly on all fronts, it’s refreshing to know that an upstart group of young men have excelled against virtually insurmountable odds. The absolutely refused to quit. Their tenacity and character will not quickly be forgotten.

Perhaps unwittingly, the underdogs of Fresno State have lifted the spirits of Americans everywhere by this incredible achievement.
