Brunswick Road reopens today

Winter storms caused a portion of Brunswick Road to drop about 14 inches below the rest of the pavement. The broken section has now been repaired and is slated to reopen at 7 a.m. Thursday.

Brunswick Road reopened to all through traffic beginning today at 7 a.m., more than two weeks ahead of schedule.

Nevada County officials reported Tuesday that road repair work would be finished by Saturday, but later said the process is moving along even more quickly than they anticipated.

Hansen Brothers Enterprises expedited final road paving and striping work this week, which has resulted in the road reopening faster than expected, according to Joshua Pack, principal civil engineer for the Nevada County Department of Public Works.

Emergency repair work on Brunswick Road began July 15 and was originally expected to last about a month. Hansen Brothers Enterprises has installed additional drains and replaced about 4,000 cubic yards of roadway fill in order to address damages caused by this winter’s storms, Pack said.
