Bruins score third shutout of season

Duane Zauner won his 150th game Friday, and the Bruins (7-3 overall, 4-1

Pioneer Valley League) have a shot at the PVL championship.

Because Whitney beat Placer 9-7 on Friday, Bear River can earn a tie for

the PVL crown by beating Colfax next week.

Zauner, who is the only coach Bear River’s JV program has seen in its

21-year existence, holds a 150-57-2 record.

Chris Parfitt ran for a pair of touchdowns against the Cougars, and Jason

Varni ran 35 yards for another.

Chad Quirarte had an interception for the Bruins, in addition to catching

a 2-point conversion from quarterback Tanner Mathias.

The win was Bear River’s third-straight shutout, and fourth this season.
