After three meets in seven days, a crazy week of racing for the Bear River cross country team came to a close Saturday with the Bronco Invitational at Willow Hill in Folsom.

With lots of young runners who had never run the course and with Willow Hill being the future site for the section meet, Bear River was focused on getting in a solid race.

Top performances of the day were turned in by Alex Coffman, Sierra Mitchell and Patrick Gillis.

Coffman finished the 5K boys varsity race in 18th place with a time of 17 minutes , 16 seconds.

Mitchell covered the 5K course in 21:47 for a 27th-place finish in the girls varsity race.

And Gillis continues to improve and show why the freshman runner has a bright future with a 17th-place finish in a time of 13:07 in the 3,400-meter race.

The Bruins finish up the regular season Oct. 24 with their third league meet when the girls varsity will square off with Placer for the Pioneer Valley League team championship.

On the individual side, Lady Bruin Mary Nattrass will go for the individual PVL championship.
