Bring troops home

Evidence is accumulating that supporting our troops means bringing them home. More than 1,400 active-duty American military personnel have signed an unprecedented appeal asking Congress to withdraw our forces from Iraq (www.appealforredress .org). Civilians agree: According to an ABC News/Washington Post poll released recently, 64 percent of Americans now say the war in Iraq was not worth fighting. The British and Italians are already withdrawing. As to widening the conflict, a half-dozen top American generals and admirals have threatened to resign if Bush attacks Iran. Soon his only remaining allies will be 20 Polish sailors and a Ukrainian field cafeteria.
