Concert postponed

Nevada City Music Events regrets that “A Funky Jazz Fusion World Music Night,” scheduled for tonight, has been postponed. Stay tuned for the new date or contact info@nevadacitymusicevents.com.

Gospel concert at fairgrounds

Five gospel bands perform Saturday, May 26, from noon to 8 p.m. at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, and it’s free.

In addition to the nonstop music, which includes some rhythm and blues, children will have activities to keep them happy, and prizes will be given away. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy the 16th annual “Praise in the Mountains.”

Fruit Jar Pickers play at

community center fundraiser

If you love the wonderful down-home sounds of Rough and Ready’s Fruit Jar Pickers as the group plays old favorites, know that a chance to see them in Grass Valley takes place tonight at the Gold Country Community Center, Gate 2, at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

But that’s not all. The evening is also a dinner and fundraiser to collect the rent for the center so that it can continue doing its good work, including running the Meals on Wheels program.

The meal is spaghetti/garlic bread/salad/dessert. It starts at 5 p.m. Admission to this rent party is only $1, so enjoy a low-cost fun evening, knowing that you’re helping out.

Contact Francisco Lovato at (530) 273-496 or francisco@goldcountrycenter.org for more information. By the way, the Center needs to raise $24,000 more to meet the yearly rent, so donations are gratefully accepted.
