Kaci Farrell will graduate as a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society from Claremont McKenna College, with a B.A. in Government, this spring.

She is a 2003 Nevada Union High School graduate and the daughter of Patrick Farrell and Melissa Fowlkes-Farrell of Grass Valley.

Thirty acrylic paintings by third and fourth graders of Grizzly Hill School are on display in the Children’s Room of the Madelyn Helling Library. The paintings wil be exhibited till April 22.

The paintings can be seen during normal library hours on Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sierra College Nevada County Campus is offering class on how to start a business on April 12 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The class will teach how to assess one’s business interest and readiness, the basics of building a successful business and how to use available business resources.

The fee for the class is $39. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call Sierra College Community Education at 916-781-0590.

William Jessup University, a private four-year university in Rocklin, is hosting its annual Transfer Day on April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for students currently attending community college or a four-year university.

Transfer Day helps prospective William Jessup students learn more about the educational opportunities at the Christian university and its campus life. Students will take a campus tour, have lunch, meet with major department chairs, and receive information from admissions, the financial aid department and curriculum advisors.

William Jessup welcomes transfer students regardless of the number of units completed at other accredited colleges and universities.

Applicants who have completed more than 24 academic semester units at the time of application will have their admission evaluation done primarily on the basis of college work.

If an applicant has completed less than 24 academic semester units at the time of application, the admission evaluation will be done primarily on the basis of his or her final high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores and completed college work.
