College orchestra in concert tonight

The Sierra College Nevada County Campus Orchestra, directed by Stephen Miller, presents a Spring Concert tonight (Thursday, April 26) at 7 p.m. at the Grass Valley Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 12889 Osborne Hill Road in Grass Valley.

The program will be the “Overture to Rosamunde” by Franz Schubert and the Third Symphony (the “Eroica”) by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Franklin to help cast musical

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Queen of Soul is looking for a few good subjects.

Auditions for singing and non-singing parts in a musical production based on Aretha Franklin’s autobiography will be May 1-3 in suburban Detroit.

The musical based on the 1999 best-seller, “Aretha: From These Roots,” is tentatively set to premiere in Franklin’s hometown of Detroit next March.
