Breaking news: Sierra College approves bonds for campus upgrades

Sierra Community College District’s Board of Trustees voted 5-1 this afternoon to place a $44.4 million bond for improvements to the Nevada County campus on the November ballot.

The district also voted unanimously to place a $35 million bond on the November ballot for improvements to the Truckee center.

Improvements from the proposed bond would upgrade facilities at the Nevada County campus, including adding increased classroom space, upgrading computer and nursing facilities, and constructing buildings for police and fire academies.

The bond money for the Truckee center would go towards paying for a 72-acre parcel of land for the proposed Truckee campus. It would also pay for a permanent building to replace the current Truckee center.
