Breaking news: CABPRO leader steps down

Margaret Urke has resigned as director of the property-rights group CABPRO, but she will stay on as a member of the board of directors.

Urke said this morning she is leaving the day-to-day business of the organization to devote more time to her family and their businesses.

“I’m going to be on the board and have an active part in the issues,” Urke said. Her resignation will be effective Aug. 15 from the California Association of Business, Property and Resource Owners.

Urke and fellow board members will be looking for her replacement in the coming weeks. Urke said she expected that person to be more of an administrator and marketing person than she was.

Truckee resident Pat Davidson will be relied on more to deal with issues in the new lineup, Urke said.

Davidson said she will continue to work on the county fire plan and housing element issues and will do whatever the board asks of her.
