Bottle your own wine at Nevada City Winery

Nevada City Winery is having its annual open house over the weekend, during which a “Bottle Your Own Bottle” wine party will take place in the barrel room. For this special event, winemaker Mark Foster has specially blended barrels of a 2004 Zinfandel and a 2004 Syrah. Everyone will have a chance not only to barrel taste each wine but to bottle, cork, foil, label and sign their own bottles of these limited production wines.

Other things that are happening at the open house are a tour of the winery, barrel sampling, live music and hors d’oeuvres to taste. A Merlot Vertical Tasting, which features five different vintages from 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002, costs $5.

Saturday, the open house is from 11 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m. For details or directions to 321 Spring St., call 265-9463 or visit http://www.ncwinery.com. The winery has been making wines for 26 years.
