Local resident gets

literary award

The Simi Valley branch of the National League of American Pen Women announced that Grass Valley resident Phylis Warady was awarded first place in the fiction category of the annual Dorothy Daniels Honorary Writing Award contest. Her entry, “Shattered Image,” was one of 69 entries in the competition.

High school library

holds book fair

The Nevada Union High School Library Media Center will host a Scholastic Book and Gift Fair Dec. 3 – 6.

Open to the public, the event will be at the Library Media Center noon to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 3, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 4 and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Dec. 5 and 6. On display will be a large selection of books, journals, posters and other gift items.

Volunteers are needed to assist students. If you are interested in volunteering or would like to find out more about the book fair or library media program, call 273-4431, Ext. 203.
