Bombers win tight one over Rattlers

In an intense battle between the Magnolia and Lyman Gilmore eighth-grade girls basketball teams, the Lady Bombers outlasted the Lady Rattlers in overtime, 31-30.

The Lady Bombers had held an 18-9 first-half lead before Magnolia rattled off a furious comeback to force overtime.

In the extra frame, with just one second on the clock, Lyman Gilmore hit a free throw to seal the victory.



For the Lady Bombers Aycee Dykes scored nine, Avery Delhez had eight, Ashtyn Dykes added six and Sydney Jewett pitched in four.

For the Lady Rattlers, Kaylee Guerra and Grace Sypnicki led the defensive effort with Guerra contributing four points.




Summer Brown led Magnolia in rebounding and added five points.

Ashley Albee led the Lady Rattlers and all scorers with 18 points.

With the win, the Lady Bombers are 10-1 and will finish league play Tuesday against Seven Hills, which handed them their only loss. The Lady Rattlers fall to 8-3 on the season and close Monday against Pleasant Valley.
