Body found in Nevada City, no identification yet

Nevada City police are conducting an investigating after a body that was found at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on Nevada Street, Chief Lou Trovato said.

“Some kids were playing ball and the ball went over into some bushes,” Travato said.

It still was unclear whether the children found the body, or their father, whom they called at some point, found the body while retrieving the ball, Trovato said.

The body had been in the blackberry bushes “a while,” Trovato said.

It is unclear at this time whether the body is that of a man or woman, how old the person was or how the body came to be there.

Police were waiting for workers to arrive and clear the blackberry bushes so they can investigate further, Trovato said.
