Board expected to name Lynn to interim college post Tuesday

Sierra College trustees are expected Tuesday to name Morgan Lynn, the college’s associate dean for instructional programs, as interim president of the four-campus system.

Lynn has been acting president since Kevin Ramirez retired last month after 12 years at the college.

Ramirez retired after board members approved a settlement agreement that gives Ramirez 18 months pay and additional credits in the state teacher’s retirement system.

Ramirez retired after being asked by Nevada County-area trustee Aaron Klein to resign his post.

In a December memo, Klein accused Ramirez of fiscal mismanagement stemming from the diversion of $100,000 in funds from the college’s nonprofit to support campaigns for a failed $384 million bond measure.

Klein said Monday he was looking forward to working with Lynn, who has an extensive background in community college management.

“It’s only fair that we have a chance to see her in this role and have a chance to work together,” Klein said.
