Bleu’s home; My radio adventure

Bleu got to leave the hospital on the Saturday night of our weekend together. Can I tell you there is nothing more depressing than a children’s hospital? And especially the children without parents or adults in their rooms with them? We spent a lot of time in the “Activity Center,” which is an art/play room, making things. My heart goes out to every child there!

On a lighter note, I had my first session on Monday of KVMR’s Broadcasting Class. Talk about a Nevada County cross-section of people and personalities.

We learned a lot about the station in general. Do you know what KVMR stands for? First of all, the U.S. is divided into 2 sections; radio stations on the West Coast start with K and on the East Coast start with W. VMR means Victorian Museum Radio, which is where the station was created.

Makail Graham had lots of stories about the early days of the station that were a riot!

The class, taught by t.e. wolfe, consisted of many panels of KVMR broadcasters and employees and offered lots of good advice for the 27 newbies in the room.

There are 3 more evening classes and then we go into the station for practical advice. Obviously, there is a lot to learn.

Stay tuned.
