Blaine Swearingen

Visitation for family and friends of Blaine H. Swearingen of Grass Valley will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chapel of the Angels in Grass Valley. A rosary will be conducted at 7 p.m. at Chapel of the Angels in Grass Valley. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grass Valley. Graveside services will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mr. Swearingen died Thursday, Feb. 2, in Roseville. He was 78.

He was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Concord, N.C., to Crowell H. Swearingen and Belle V. Suther. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1st Class during World War II. He married Marie I. McCann on May 18,1968, in Palo Alto. He was a supervisor in electronics shipping for Varian Associates.



He is survived by his wife, Marie I. Swearingen of Grass Valley; daughters and sons-in-law Louise M. and Brad Angus of Vancouver, Wash., and Kathy and Aaron Cranford of Concord, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Gloria Swaringen; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills or St. Patrick’s Passionate Fathers for Masses to be said for Blaine.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
