When he isn’t working as the computer network administrator for Calvary Chapel of Grass Valley, Jeffrey Roberts likes to indulge his passion for tournament-level paintball.

That passion has led Roberts to purchase JF Paintball at 1253 E. Main St. in Grass Valley, which he plans to remodel and turn into a full-service paintball emporium.

Roberts is also instituting new store hours: Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. The phone number is 273-3582.

Local consultant and trainer Terri Bianco recently conducted a workshop on generational diversity for the city of Sacramento’s training development coordinators.




Bianco, who heads TBEnterprises in Nevada City, discussed the issues that can arise when several generations with different values, rewards systems, history, influences, and understanding of technology work side-by-side.

The Penn Valley Chamber of Commerce will hold a business mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Jim Keil Chevrolet in – of all places – Grass Valley. Along with music, prizes and food, attendees will get a chance to view the latest Chevy cars and trucks.

Michael Cotton, owner of Michael’s Tree Service in Nevada City, has been designated a certified arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture.

To receive the certification, Cotton had to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of tree care practices by completing ISA’s education program and passing an exam.

Three practitioners have joined forces to open Associated Psychotherapists of Nevada City at the Providence Mine Business Plaza, 202 Providence Mine Road.

Emily Gallup offers therapy for children and adults with depression, anxiety and relationship issues. Sheilagh Goetsch provides parent coaching for families of young children who have behavior problems at home or school. Donna Guyot uses several approaches to enhance the well being of children, adults and families.

Spiral Studios, a Nevada City Web site development and direct marketing firm, has been retained by British advertising agency NXO to help launch a new diagnostic system in the U.S. for Honda and Acura vehicles. Spiral will oversee the direct mail campaign for the Teradyne Pocket Tester.
