Licensed insurance agent Julie Roberts has gone into business for herself serving Nevada County residents’ health insurance needs.

Roberts previously worked for Gold Valley Insurance for 10 years but decided to branch out on her own when the agency merged with Wells Fargo Acordia last October.

Monique Lockhart, a certified massage therapist, recently relocated her massage business from Southern California to Grass Valley.

Lockhart’s business is located at the Patt Chiropractic Clinic, 123 Margaret Lane.

She offers Swedish and clinical massage, low back and sciatic nerve pain management.

Lockhart graduated from the Healing Arts Institute Massage School in 2004. Previously, she was a chiropractic assistant for seven years.

Vector Engineering recently announced it would open an engineering office in La Paz, Bolivia.

This will be the company’s fourth office in South America, where the company already employs 270 people.

Vector, which specializes in mine waste management, mineral waste processes and solid waste management, was founded here in Grass Valley in 1986. The company employs 70 individuals and is active in 16 countries, according to a company press release.


Cosmetique Spa and Boutique owner Sharen Deardorff and esthetician Jeanne Rhey recently completed key training in their respective fields.

Deardorff received advanced training in anti-aging skin care, environmental protection and home skin care for all skin types from GM Collin Professional Skincare.

Rhey received advanced training in anti-aging facials, Botox-like facials and high-concentration facials and Vitamin C facials from GM Collin Professional Skincare.


The 10th edition of the INSIGHT Directory, a directory listing more than 200 alternative medicine practitioners, now is available.
