A grand opening for a new Nevada City weight management center is set for

Saturday.

The opening of Healthy Now is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 569 Searles Ave. The center offers individual support and information designed to help people achieve their weight-loss goals.



Presentations, question-and-answer sessions, healthy recipe tastings and details about Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Wellness Center will be included. Also, a weight loss compact disc will be distributed to the first 100 people, and Carole Carson will sign copies of her book “From Fat to Fit.”

The event is free.

Grass Valley Florist recently became a wireless Internet provider.

The flower shop and cafe, with outdoor seating on an attractive deck, is one of the oldest floral and gift shops in western Nevada County, according to the shop’s press release.

The Grass Valley office for the California Department of Vocational Rehabilitation recently relocated to Sierra College Drive.

The office previously was located at 970 East Main St. It has moved to 380 Sierra College Drive, Suite 220. The new office can be reached at 477-2600.

New equipment used by the local Mr. Rooter Plumbing allows the business to repair sewer pipes in a less intrusive manner.

The new Perma-Liner Lining System equipment is known as trenchless technology, which requires far less digging for the repair work, according to the company’s press release.
