Quail Ridge to host talk for veterans

Quail Ridge Senior Living in Grass Valley is hosting an informal seminar on the myths of the Veteran’s Affairs Program for assisted living from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.



Glen Osborne of Senior Veteran’s of America, a nonprofit organization, will be the speaker.

CoRR offering new test for drugs, alcohol

CoRR, or Community Recovery Resources, has a new drug and alcohol testing system called CoRR U-Test.

CoRR U-Test is available in Nevada and Sierra counties for individuals, companies, schools and courts.

Free help available for homeowners, renters

HelpLine Information and Assistance is taking appointments to help prepare and file the state of California 2008 Homeowners and Renters Assistance claim forms. There is no charge for those who qualify for the help.

An annual payment is made to qualified individuals based on part of the property taxes assessed and paid on their homes or rent payments and their 2007 income.

To be eligible for this program you must be:

• 62 and older, blind or disabled;

• Have a total household income of $44,096 or less;

• Be a U.S. citizen or designated alien.

Appointments are available on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 8 to Aug. 19.
