Big crowd shows up at first NC Green Team workshop

There was no shortage of people – or talk – at a Monday morning brainstorming session to kick off Nevada City’s “Green Team.”

About 60 people turned up to City Hall for a workshop to list eco-friendly projects locals are already working on and dream up new ones.

It’s the first step in a process to create a long-term sustainability plan for the city that coordinates the numerous, separate projects from government agencies and non-profits.

Next, the city will assemble a Green Team to seek out grants and guide the city in implementing projects. The long-term plan will make it more competitive for stimulus money and grants with springtime deadlines.
