Bethel Howe

Graveside services for Bethel Leon Howe of Grass Valley will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Elm Ridge Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Howe died Sunday, July 28, in Sacramento. She was 85.

She was born Feb. 14, 1917, in San Bernardino to Charles and Rachel Ambrose. She was a homemaker for 70 years and enjoyed her family.



Mrs. Howe is survived by her sons George Clanton of Weldon, Ray Clanton of Grass Valley and Arthur Nunley of Grass Valley; daughters Georgia Channel and Betty Channel, both of Sacramento, and Verdie Hicks of Reno; brother Sylvester Ambrose of San Bernardino; sister Pauline Boatright of Yucaipa; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Charles and Austin Ambrose; sisters Margaret Shorrock and Lucielle Ambrose; daughter Debora Nunley; and three husbands, Clarence Clanton, Edward Nunley and Rowland Howe.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the March of Dimes.




Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
