Bertie Tigard

Bertie Tigard, 79, of Grass Valley died Thursday, March 17, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

No services are planned.

Mrs. Tigard was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Wetumpkia, Okla., to Floyd and Ida (Goodnight) Frye. She married Sam Tigard on Sept. 13, 1975. She worked at Beale Air Force Base and as a manager at Bio-Control. She was a charter member of the “Women of the Moose.” She enjoyed gardening, watching westerns and her family.



She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Patricia and Harry Thomas of Grass Valley, Judy and Dale Howell of Foresthill, and Phyllis and Joe Vieira of Roseville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Cathy Denton of Auburn; brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Carol Frye of Penn Valley; sister, Chloe Mathews of Hobbs, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Tigard in 2002; two sisters; three brothers; and one granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Aid Thrift Store or Sierra Nevada Home Care.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
