Benjamin Thompson

Services for Benjamin Thomas Thompson of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 615 Hollow Way in Nevada City.

Mr. Thompson died Tuesday, Feb. 7, at home. He was 24.

He was born August 21, 1981, in Grass Valley to Jerry and Kathie Thompson. He was raised in Grass Valley and graduated from Nevada Union High School in 2000. During high school, Ben was an athlete and participated in baseball, football, wrestling and competition cheerleading. He enjoyed singing and was a member of the NU Men’s Choir. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Following graduation from high school, he served two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Texas Fort Worth Mission.



He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Kathie of Grass Valley; daughter, Avrielle of Auburn; grandmothers Laura Pike of Grass Valley and Ethel Ramus of Yreka; sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Derek Segle of Modesto; brother, Jerald Thompson of Salt Lake City, Utah; half-sister, Tammi Kraak of Hayden, Idaho; four nephews; two nieces; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
