Benefit, remembrance celebration upcoming

Dec. 1, “A World of Drumming: Heart Beats for Tibetan Women” (a benefit performance) takes place at Center for the Arts in Grass Valley at 8 p.m. under the direction of Saul Rayo. Tickets for $20 are available through the Center’s Box Office, 314 W. Main St., and the usual ticket outlets (Briar Patch Community Market and The Book Seller in Grass Valley, Yabobo in Nevada City, and Cherry Records in Auburn); and at the door, if available. Dec. 3 is Open House for St. Joseph’s Cultural Center, 410 S. Church St., Grass Valley, noon to 5 p.m. This is an opportunity to go through all the nooks and crannies of this 150-year-old building, including the art studios, two museums and dance studio. It is free, but donations are gladly accepted.


Dec. 7 is Tree of Love at Sierra Presbyterian Church, 175 Ridge Road, Nevada City. The service “Of remembrance” is held in the Presbyterian main church at 6 p.m. followed by the lighting of the “Tree of Love” with a reception in the church hall following the tree lighting.
