Benefit for mental health drop-in center to feature live music, raffle

A fund-raiser party for an in-the-works mental health drop-in center will be Monday at Miners Foundry Cultural Center.

Spirit Mental Health Peer Empowerment Center is slated to open April 1 at a house behind Lyon’s Restaurant in Grass Valley.

Monday’s party from 7 to 9 p.m. includes entertainment and a raffle for a $25,000 treehouse. The treehouse can be seen beforehand at Weiss Brothers.



Raffle tickets are available for $50 at Weiss Brothers, BriarPatch, The Union, Mill Street Clothing, Nevada City Postal Co., Harmony Books or by calling 432-1991. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold.

Kimberly Bass will perform at 7 p.m., followed by the Strum Bums ukeleli orchestra at 7:30 p.m.




The drawing, introductions and closing remarks will be at 8 p.m., closing with more entertainment by Tony Lauria and the Strum Bums.

Admission is free to the party. The Foundry is at 325 Spring St., Nevada City.
