Belle Berry

Belle Louise Berry died peacefully in her sleep Oct. 6 in Grass Valley. She was 93.

A private military ceremony is planned to join her ashes at sea with her husband and daughter.

She was born Dec. 6, 1916, in Seattle, Wash., to Marshall A. Wiley and Elizabeth Dodge. She met her husband, Lamar Berry, in Seattle.



A career Navy family, they raised four children mainly in Santa Cruz, Calif., and Santa Clara County, Calif. She retired from West Valley College in Saratoga, Calif.

In 2006, Mrs. Berry moved to Grass Valley to be close to her family. She was a resident at both Highgate Senior Living and Meadowview Manor before moving in with her children.




Mrs. Berry is survived by her children, Brent Berry of Port Angeles, Wash., Brian (Sandra) Berry of Grass Valley, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a great-great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Cmdr. (Ret.) Lamar Berry; and her daughter, Marta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are by Chapel of the Angels Mortuary, Grass Valley.
