Bellamy, Cowan featured at Gallery II

Gallery II’s featured artists will be Carol Bellamy and Nancy Cowan from Wednesday through May 2.

Bellamy’s works exhibited are a collection of whimsical animal, figure, aluminum forest and copper tree wire sculptures. The length of the wire for one piece ranges between 1 foot and 350 feet.

Cowan will unveil a series of abstract paintings based on pencil drawings done by her late husband, Frank, while he was in the final stages of Alzheimer’s Disease and unable to speak.

The project uses watercolor, oil, colored pencil and monotype mediums. This series has special meaning to Cowan, representing a significant expression of the couple’s lifetime connection and a glimpse into the human mind.

A free reception on Feb. 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. includes jazz by Ludi Hinrichs and refreshments.

Gallery II is at 419 Broad St., Nevada City. The cooperative has 35 artist members and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call the gallery at 470-9222 or check the Web at http://www.galleryiifineart.com.
