Bedford Darden VIII

Private services will be held for Bedford “Hank” Darden VIII, 94, who died on Jan. 10 in Paradise.

He was born Oct. 9, 1908, the son of Bedford and Dillie Wiggins Darden in Chippley, Fla. He earned a degree in electrical and appliance repair, and during his career worked for Montgomery Ward and Sears, and was self-employed. He married his wife, Dorothy, on Aug. 25, 1936. His hobbies included woodworking, such as building furniture, as well as gardening, reading and writing poetry.

Mr. Darden is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Paradise; daughters Betsy Hunter of Grass Valley and Wendy Lockwood of Aurora, Colo.; son Carl Darden of Yreka; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pattie Lucas.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Aid and Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose Chapel in Paradise.
