Beautiful Cruise on the Lake Benefits Penn Valley Schools

Last Saturday was the wonderful and sold out 22nd annual Roots and Wings Boat Cruise and Tasting on Lake Wildwood.
More than 300 people participated as guests, sponsors, organizers, assistants, or boat captains. This event is an amazing collaboration throughout our community to benefit the local schools.
If you haven’t participated before, keep this on your radar next year; the event sells out in July.
Also, you can start marking your calendar for Sunday, October 4 for the 25th Annual Roots and Wings Golf Tournament.
This is another tremendous event that takes a lot of coordination and volunteers, and significantly benefits our students. All these events are very fun for participants and volunteers alike.
Roots and Wings has been fortunate to have many volunteers on their team under the guidance of the past president Susanne Vaughn, who coordinates the wine cruise as well.
Now they also have the leadership of Ed Sanchez, the new president, who was instrumental in implementing Junior Achievement in Penn Valley Schools- the first adopters of the program in Nevada County.
Our kids have access to some premier opportunities including Junior Achievement, LEGO Robotics (first district in the county also), music reading, appreciation, and playing in collaboration with Music in the Mountains, math programs, reading programs, art appreciation, fantastic field trips, and have even had woodshop.
Roots and Wings Educational Foundation wishes to thank all those who contributed to the success of this event. Each one has touched the lives of children in our community through the money that provides increased opportunities at our schools.
To keep these opportunities robust, please consider supporting R&W directly during the events throughout the year, or volunteering at the schools.
