Beatie becomes newest candidate for District 4 Supervisor

Rough and Ready resident Gordon K. Beatie has declared his candidacy for District 4 supervisor. Beatie registered as a candidate on Friday, Feb. 17.

Primary elections are scheduled for June 6. The deadline for declaring candidacy is March 10.

Beatie joins Hank Weston, Penn Valley resident and former Grass Valley fire chief, and Martin Harmon, Penn Valley resident and owner of Gold Country Ranch in the Yuba Highlands, as candidates for the position. Weston and Harmon officially registered as candidates on Monday, Feb. 13.

Current District 4 supervisor Robin Sutherland announced in December that she would not seek re-election, citing “family responsibilities” in her decision.

Beatie did not return phone calls Tuesday.
