Bear River Choir sings in Hawaii

Just in case you have friends or relatives who live on Oahu, let them know that an excellent choir is coming their way from Lake of the Pines.

The Bear River Choir, under the direction of Cherry Hayes, is flying to Hawaii Friday to sing at the Gateway Music Festival at Brigham Young University campus on the north shore of Oahu.

In addition to the festival competition, the choir will also perform at the U.S.S. Missouri battleship after remembering the fallen heroes at the Pearl Harbor Memorial. They will be singing a beautiful song, “Sunrise over America,” by Linda Spevacek in tribute to the men who lost their lives there. The performers will also attend a Hawaiian Choral Clinic at the University of Hawaii.

Following the music festival, the choir will go to the Polynesian Cultural Center for a buffet dinner and awards ceremony. The choir returns Wednesday to Nevada County.
