Bear River asphalt plant to be discussed tonight

The plan for an asphalt plant on the Bear River will come before a Placer County committee

will be discussing an asphalt plant currently planned for the Chevreaux quarry on the Bear River.

The proposed Teichert Inc. plant, needed for construction on Interstate 80, has stirred controversy in Meadow Vista and southern Nevada County.



A recent county counsel opinion has placed the project on hold while Teichert provides information to prove it will comply with a 1972 permit that allows the operation of an asphalt plant on the site.

The meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m. today in the gymnasium at Placer Hills School, 16801 Placer Hills Road in Meadow Vista.
