Barricaded man forced evacuation of Roseville mall

ROSEVILLE – The Roseville Galleria shopping center in suburban Sacramento has been evacuated after a man started a fire, then barricaded himself in the back room of an electronics store.

Megan MacPherson, spokeswoman for the city of Roseville, says the man claimed to have a gun when he entered the Electronics Boutique inside the Roseville Galleria Mall shortly before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Sheriff’s deputies, including a Placer County special weapons and tactics team, went into the mall to detain the man around 12:15 p.m.

The mall’s sprinkler system was triggered after a fire erupted early this morning.

MacPherson says there were no reports of hostages or injuries.
