Barbara Fahlmann

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., June 16, at 12138 Hutto Road, Big Oak Valley, Smartville for Barbara L. Fahlmann. Mrs. Fahlmann, of Smartville, passed away May 22 at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley. She was 78.

Mrs. Fahlmann was born May 5, 1929, to Lloyd V. and Nina E. (Schomp) Dykes at home in Sebastopol.

She attended nurse’s training school in San Francisco and worked as a nurse’s aid at Contra Costa County Hospital in Martinez.

On June 27, 1954, she married Douglas Fahlmann in Vallejo.

Mrs. Fahlmann was a member of NARFE, Yuba Sutter Chapter 1255 and Grass Valley Chapter 1335. She enjoyed talking and visiting with friends, Search-a-Word Puzzles and scrabble.

Mrs. Fahlmann is survived by her daughter, Laurine Polmanteer of Smartville; son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Yuxin Fahlmann of Plano, Texas; grandchildren Edward and Jennifer Brookins of Smartville, Michael Fahlmann of Burley, Idaho, and Vanessa, Kristina and Elizabeth Fahlmann of Commerce, Texas; brother, David Dykes of Shingletown; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Joanne Dykes of Kalispell, Mont.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Fahlmann, in 1988; father, Lloyd V. Dykes, in 1974; mother, Nina E. Dykes, in 1989; brother, Lloyd B. Dykes, in 1996; and sister, Margorie (Dykes) Saxton, in 2003.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Society.
