Banff Mountain Film Festival visits Downieville

The historic Gold Rush-era town of Downieville on Highway 49 offers a perfect opportunity for an Easter weekend get-away – the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour at the Yuba Theatre, Friday through Sunday, April 6, 7 and 8. This mountain village, situated in a rugged canyon at the fork of the Downie and North Yuba Rivers, and the Yuba Theatre itself, provide a memorable setting viewing films from the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival held each fall in Alberta, Canada.

The Friday, April 6 and Saturday, April 7, shows begin at 7 p.m. and the Sunday, April 8, show begins at 5 p.m. Each screening will feature different programs of the best independent documentary films available.

Tickets are $16 in advance and, if available, $18 at the door. Children 12 and under are charged half price. Tickets can be purchased at the following outlets: in Downieville at the Downieville Grocery, in Grass Valley at BriarPatch Community Market and in Sierra City at the Country Store. Credit card orders can be placed over the phone by calling the Downieville Grocery at (530) 289-3596.
