It pays to be nice to your high school classmates. You might end up working together after college.

That’s what happened to members of Shurman, who first played rock together in a high school band in the early ’90s.

After their days of hitting the books were over, the former high school classmates reconvened in Los Angeles and formed Shurman, an indie rock band, less than two years ago.

The band plays in Los Angeles venues such as the Troubadour, the Viper Room, the Roxy Theatre and the House of Blues, and will now play in Nevada City – Cooper’s to be exact – on Friday.

Music begins at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $3.

Cooper’s is at 235 Commercial St. Call 265-0116 with any questions.
