Author Carol Lee Flinders gives workshop Saturday

To those who have read Carol Lee Flinders’ books- “Enduring Grace: Living Portraits of Seven Women Mystics” and “At the Root of This Longing: Reconciling a Spiritual Hunger” – getting a chance to meet her is special indeed. That stands as well for cooks who love her popular Laurel’s Kitchen cookbooks (which she co-authored).

A Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of California at Berkeley (specializing in medieval studies, no less), Flinders is thoughtful, smart, spiritual and a true communicator.

Saturday, she is giving a three-hour workshop that, she says, draws on stories of magnificent women, past and present. “We will explore – as a reality, not just a poetic image – the radiant streams of awareness that can flow down through time and into our own lives.” How then might these nourishing conduits strengthen our collective desire to help re-birth this battered world, she asks.

This event is sponsored in part by the Educational Enrichment Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains. For more about Flinders, visit

Another workshop with Carol Lee Flinders and Husband Tim-“Spirit, Science, and Story”-is scheduled for Sept. 6. See more about this at
