AUSTIN CLAMPITT

Austin B. Clampitt died May 31 at his home in Grass Valley. He was 70.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 27, at Twin Cities Church, 11726 Rough and Ready Highway in Grass Valley. The Rev. David Carothers will officiate. Cremation will take place.

Mr. Clampitt was born August 16, 1937, in Long Beach to Harry L. Clampitt and Billie R. Austin. He graduated from Canoga Park High School in 1955. He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving from 1955 to 1973. He married Yvonne Skinner on Dec. 30, 1963. He was a member of Twin Cities Church and enjoyed fishing, kayaking, camping, theater, acting, and backpacking.



Mr. Clampitt is survived by his daughters Noma A. Varela of San Diego and Sheryl M. Montgomery of Placerville; sons Austin B. Clampitt Jr. of Livermore and Christopher G. Clampitt of Placerville, and grandchildren Ryan and Megan Montgomery of Placerville, Lis and Maria Varela of San Diego and Melissa and Rebecca Clampitt of Livermore.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne F. Clampitt.




In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 2399 Nevada City Highway in Grass Valley.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.
