Arvilla Wood

Graveside services for Arvilla Harriet Wood of Grass Valley will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Garden Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Wood died Wednesday, Nov. 20, at a local medical facility. She was 90.



She was born Jan. 17, 1912, in Britton, Mich., to George and Hattie Quick. She graduated from Santa Barbara Nursing College and was a registered nurse for 65 years. She married John Wood in 1942 in Nevada City. They moved to Grass Valley in 1963, where she worked as a registered nurse at Miners Hospital in Nevada City, and also in Weimar. She enjoyed needle point, knitting, gardening and her cats. She was a member of the Registered Nurses Association and the Gold Country African Violet Society.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Wood of Grass Valley; daughter Katherine Jimakas of Los Angeles; grandchildren Stephen Wood Jr., Christine Musillo, Linden Scott, and Tristan and Brandon Wood; and numerous great-grandchildren.




She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Stuart M. Wood.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
