Arvid Wagamon

Graveside services for Arvid Herr Wagamon of Grass Valley will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at New Elm Ridge Cemetery. Pastor Tom Patterson will officiate the service.

Mr. Wagamon died Saturday, June 26, in Grass Valley. He was 85.

He was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Wellmaw, Iowa, to William and Mabelle (Herr) Wagamon.



He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant. He married Dorothy Short on Feb. 16, 1943.

He retired from PG&E after 29 years as a mechanic. He was a member of the Odd Fellows while he lived in Iowa.




He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wagamon of Grass Valley; daughter, Dana Ritzman of Grass Valley; son, Greg Wagamon of Washington; brother, William Wagamon; sister, Jean Robbins; grandchildren Lynn Ritzman, Daniel Wagamon, Gregory Wagamon, Cherie Wagamon, Joseph Teixeira and Aaron Teixeira; and great-grandson, Alex Wagamon.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Wagamon; mother, Mabelle Wagamon; and son, Lowell Wagamon.

Memorial contributions may be made to disabled veterans groups.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.

Authorities say four people were killed in a Monday plane crash after a Bombardier Challenger jet on approach to Truckee Tahoe Airport went down in heavily treed terrain adjacent to the airport along Reynold Way.
