Arts Council, Community/Senior Center ‘Not So Silent Auction’ promises fun, art

More than 200 services and merchandise items will be up for grabs in the third annual “Not So Silent” auction Feb. 26 in Grass Valley.

The auction is a fund-raiser for two nonprofit organizations: the Community/Senior Center and the Nevada County Arts Council.

Retail value of the 2003 auction exceeded $17,000, according to Penelope Curtis, Nevada County Arts Council executive director.

This year’s auction items include artwork; visual, literary and performance art classes; a limited edition Mae West autographed poster; plants; restaurant gift certificates; wine and tickets to Foothill Theatre Company, Music in the Mountains and Sierra Cinemas events.

KVMR on-air personality Len Gorsky returns as auctioneer. Preview is 5 p.m. and the auction is 6:30 p.m. at the Community/Senior Center, 11350 McCourtney Road.

Admission is $5, which is the price of a bidding guidebook. All auction items are tax-deductible.

Call the Nevada County Arts Council at 271-5955 or the Community/Senior Center at 273-4961 for more details.
