Aug. 8 & 9 TopNotch Treasures: Art, Collectibles, & Other Great Stuff, a fundraising sale at The Center for the Arts, 314 W. Main, Grass Valley.

Aug. 23 Nevada County Land Trust 6th Annual Benefit Concert, Stars at the Peak, in Penn Valley at Pilot Peak Winery on Spenceville Road.

Music begins at 7 p.m. but come at 5. As of Friday, tickets are $65 member, $80 non-member; available at Coldwell Banker Grass Roots Realty in Nevada City and Grass Valley or online at or call 1-888-695-0888.


Sept. 13 LiteratureAlive! presents “Wordslingers 2008” with Coleman Barks reading his inspired translations of the ecstatic poems of Rumi to music. At The Veterans’ Hall in Grass Valley.

Purchase tickets in advance for $25 on the floor and $20 in the bleachers at the Center for the Arts Box Office, 314 W. Main St., Grass Valley, (530) 274-8384 (ext. 14), or at the center’s usual ticket outlets (Briar Patch Community Market, Yabobo in Nevada City, and Cherry Records in Auburn); also online at At the door, tickets are $30 on the floor and $25 in the bleachers.

Students with ID and seniors receive $5 off ticket prices.
