Antonina Vernace

A Mass of Christian burial for Antonina Vernace of Penn Valley will be conducted at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grass Valley. Graveside services will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cathedral City. Services will be officiated by Father Tim Nondorf.

Mrs. Vernace died Tuesday, May 23, in Penn Valley. She was 90.

She was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Sicily, Italy, to Dominick and Providenza Sanzone. She graduated from junior high. She married Bartolomeo Vernace on June 6, 1932. She was a self-employed dress contractor in New York.



She is survived by her daughter, Frances M. Vernace; brother, Anthony Sanzone; and sisters Anna Sanchez and Mary Pisciotta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bartolomeo Vernace, on May 9, 1998; brother, Antonio Sanzone, in June 2004; and parents Dominick and Providenza Sanzone.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
