This week is World Communion Sunday. Church services are at 9 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m., Contemporary. Pastor Charles Smith will deliver the message. Sunday School classes are held during the 10:30 a.m. service with loving childcare all morning. Grass Valley United Methodist Church

Join us for our Contemplative Worship Service at 8:45 a.m. This service includes candlelight, chants and song, silent prayer time, scripture and story. Our traditional service at 10:30 a.m. includes the Sunday message, choir, special music, caring and sharing time. Coffee fellowship follows. Communion is served every first Sunday at both services. Sunday School is held during the 8:45 a.m. service for ages 3 to 12, with chimes and drama 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. Child care for all ages is 8:30 a.m. until noon. We are a Christian cancer support group that meets at Foothill Church. Those with serious chronic illnesses, including cancer, and their care givers are encouraged to come and share in a safe environment concerning this difficult time. The Palestine-Israel Working Group of Nevada County (PIWG)

We advocate for human rights, equality and justice for all in Palestine and Israel. We meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Peace Center of Nevada County, 216 B Main Street, Nevada City. PIWG sponsors the Women and Men in Black vigil Thursdays, 5:15 to 6 p.m. on the Broad Street bridge in Nevada City. We vigil to in support of the Women in Black in Israel, who founded the movement in 1988. All who support human rights and justice for all in Palestine and Israel are welcome to join the vigil. St. Canice Catholic Church

We are so excited to announce a new Children’s Mass every third Sunday of the month at 9.30 a.m. at St. Canice Roman Catholic Church. Grass Valley AM AGLOW

We are a local chapter of Aglow International, meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 9:45 to noon at 336 Crown Point Circle, Grass Valley. Aglow is a wonderful opportunity for unity in the Body of Christ and is not “just for women” anymore! Pray Nevada County

We are seeking God on behalf of our communities. Open to all for Christian prayer, Pray Nevada County meets each Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. to pray for our county governments and services, schools and families, businesses and media, and churches and parachurch ministries. Since August 1997, 15 to 25 people from eight to 12 congregations have met each week to pray for our communities. In the month of September, we will be meeting at Livingwell Medical Clinic, 113 Presley Way Suite 4, Grass Valley.

The Healing Rooms of Nevada County

We pray for healing of body and spirit. Everyone is welcome whether they attend church or not. Come to the Main Lobby of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, 155 Glasson Way, Grass Valley on Thursdays, 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is no fee and no appointment is necessary. Also, Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11:30 a.m. healing ministry is available by appointment only.

Brother, can you spare an … hour?

A group of local men meets from 6 to 7 a.m. Thursdays at Penny’s Diner for breakfast. Under the banner of “Christian Business Men’s Committee,” we have breakfast, read a portion of scripture, share what God has done in our life and pray. As a welcome break between weekends, these men encourage each other as they wish to encourage you in these trying times.
