Wedding: Wright-Matthews

David and Cathy Wright of Nevada City announced the marriage of their daughter, Megan, to Christopher Matthews on Aug. 31, 2014.

Megan is a Class of 2000 graduate of Nevada Union High School. She graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and completed her master’s degree in Structural Engineering at Stanford University.

Chris is the son of Herb and Carol Matthews of Willoughby Hills, Ohio. After graduating from Ohio State University, Chris headed west to find sunshine and landed in San Francisco. He eventually settled down in Oakland, where he finally found some sunshine and Megan.

Guests as young as one month old and from as far away as South Carolina attended the ceremony in the courtyard of the historic North Star House. Under a newly constructed pergola, Chris and Megan were married by Chris’ childhood friend Kevin Malacek. The pergola was designed by the bride’s father, reflecting Julia Morgan’s earlier work there, and was constructed with help from the entire family as part of ongoing restorations.

Megan was attended by her sister Heather Wright and best friend Allison Hathon. Chris brought along friends Joel Hicks and William Lash.

After a lovely beach vacation, the couple has returned to Bay Area.
