Dr. Caroline Jane Witney-Smith and Mr. Christopher Thomas Lagen (pictured) were married on July 11, 2009, in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England, at the historic church of St. Peter and St. Paul. Rev. Rosie Harper officiated.
The chief bridesmaid was Miss Emma Witney-Smith, the bride’s sister. The best man was Mr. MacKenzie Patterson. The bride was given away by her uncle, Mr. Nick Witney.
The bridesmaids were Dr. Aba Carboo and Dr. Tracy Parker.
The groomsmen were Mr. Charles Wells and Mr. Tom Witney.
The reception was held at Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire.
Caroline is the daughter Mrs. Jane Witney-Smith and the late Mr. David Witney-Smith, of Chalfont St. Giles.
She attended schools in England, earning a first-class honors degree in molecular medicine and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at University College London.
She was inducted as a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and works as an Orthopaedic surgeon.
The groom is the elder son of Judith Lagen of Grass Valley and Douglas Lagen of Nipomo.
He attended schools locally at Alta Sierra Elementary, Magnolia Intermediate, and Arroyo Grande High School, graduating summa cum laude from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in Anthropology and Spanish.
He is completing his doctorate at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London. A longtime fencer, he and the bride met on the UCL fencing team.
The couple honeymooned in Kauai, Hawaii, and reside in England.
